The history of Goldman Sachs
Goldman Sachs was founded by a man named Marcus Goldman in 1869 in New York. The "Sachs" comes frmo his son-in-law, Samuel Sachs, who joined in 1882. They were well-established within a few years, and by 1898 they had more than $1.6 million in capital (somewhere around $46 in todays dollars) and were still growing.
Today, they are one of the best known financial brands across the world and provide services to indivudals, coroporations, and governments across the world. They employ more than 31,700 people worldwide.
