The history of Sams Club
The first Sam’s Club was opened in 1983 in Oklahoma with the slogan “We Are in Business for Small Business." The store was founded by Sam Walton, whose name is still on the store today. The slogan has changed though, and its now “Savings Made Simple”.
Today, you can find Sam’s Club locations in 48 states, plus overseas in China, Brazil, and Puerto Rico. For a brief period of time, Sams Club Canada also existed, though the stores shut down in 2009.
Sam’s Club is owned and operated by Walmart.
A woman gave birth in one of the bathrooms of a Sams Club
One of the most unusual places to be born has to be the bathroom of a Sam’s Club. That’s what happened to a woman in Fayetteville, Arkansas, who went to Sam’s Club to do some shopping and left with a bundle of joy instead.
According to 5 News, some of the store employees helped the woman to the bathroom and assisted her in the birth. They also called an ambulance to try and get her to the hospital, but the baby was born before it got there. Luckily, the employees followed a list of steps to help the woman, and baby and mother were both in good health after the birth.
