The history of King Soopers

King Soopers was founded in 1947 by Lloyd J. King, when he opened up his first King Soopers location in Arvada, Colorado. He focused on offering his customers a mix of value and quality thats still the stores trademark today! When he grew his chain of stores to nine locations, it was acquired by Dillon Companies, which merged with Kroger in 1983.
