David Reisberg started selling wedding gowns for profit in 1945. Previously, he had made gowns, but just because he loved doing it. The first Davids Bridal location opened in 1950 as a small boutique store. Two decades later, it was bought by Phillip Youtie who had ideas for how to expand it. He helped it grow to 18 shops, and then it spread across the country. 

Today, Davids Bridal is the biggest bridal gown seller in the United States.
