The history of Old Navy
Old Navy is a San Francisco-based clothing retailer with over 1,100 locations. Their current Global President is Sonia Syngal.
The store was first opened in the early 1990s when Gaps parent company, the Target Corporation, wanted to create a less-expensive version of the Gap. Thats how Old Navy was born, though it was originally branded as Gap Warehouse before the name was changed to avoid confusion.
Old Navy was the first store to make over $1 billion in its first four years of existence. Today, it outsells the Gap.
Old Navy claims that their white pants are stain resistant – so Business Insider put it to the test by trying their hardest to get them dirty.
Old Navy’s white “Mid-Rise Stay-White Rockstar Super Skinny” pants are sold with the claim that they have a “new Stay-White denim technology” that repels stains.
But are the claims actually true? That’s what Business Insider put to the test. They got their hands on a pair of Old Navy’s white pants and tried their best to get them dirty.
Their first test involved squeezing orange juice and then Coca-Cola onto the pants. The liquids stayed in one area instead of spreading around like you’d expect, and they didn’t leave a mark on the pants.
So the testers had to take things to the next level. They stepped on the pants repeatedly with dirty shoes. After cleaning the pants with a rag and water, you could barely see any remains of the dirt at all.
The Old Navy pants are supposed to last for 20 washes. From the results of the test, it appears they may indeed “Stay-White”.
